Planning For Your Portrait Session

Planning is a very important part of a successful portrait.  The first step is to schedule a consultation, prior to your booking your portrait session.

We will find out the look you want and review with you the best clothing and options for you. All the photographic skill in the world can't produce a perfect portrait with the wrong clothing. We need help from you as well. After all, you are a part of your portrait.

One of the most important factors is clothing. What to wear is less important than what NOT to wear. Here are a couple of guidelines about clothing for you to review. If you have any questions concerning clothing, please call our studio to discuss your outfits.

Guideline #1:   Solids are always preferred to prints and patterns. Bold prints such as stripes and plaids can be very distracting in a photograph.

Guideline #2:    Dark colors tend to slim, lighter colors will make you appear heavier.

Guideline #3:   Avoid wearing sleeveless or short sleeve tops for formal pictures. These draw the attention away from the face.

Guideline # 4:  If you wear glasses, bring an empty set of frames for your session. Glass causes distortion of the facial line and lenses tend to darken under the lights.
